Disabilities should not hinder an individual from living a normal life, like obtaining employment for example. Despite some of their health conditions, many individuals who have disabilities possess abilities needed to perform work. There are industries and companies that employ individuals who have developmental disabilities. These industries include:

  • Technology – many individuals who may lack external limbs may still be able to do computer and other gadget related tasks.
  • Services – Many individuals are great at resolving other people’s financial, real estate, and product concerns; we can also offer additional support as needed in these areas.
  • Healthcare – other individuals are great in physical therapy.

Finding the right vocation for you or a loved one who has a disability can be challenging. It could be difficult to pin point what skills can be used and which are needed; however, at Owen Health Care, we can put your mind at ease with the following vocational services we offer:

  • Counseling – through this, individuals can identify what they are good at, what they would like to do, and what prospective jobs they could have.
  • Employment support – throughout an individual’s career, we keep an eye on their needs and progress.
  • Aid for adolescents – the desire and need to work are not exclusive for adults, but there are young adolescents who may wish to acquire jobs as well. Especially at their age, our vocational services help young adults transition from being a student to being a worker.

Just because individuals may have a disability, does not mean they cannot function like everybody else. We can help those individuals utilize and harness their skills by getting themselves the job they want.
